Celebrating Filipino Food Month April 2025
Every April, kitchens, communities, and cultural spaces come alive with the vibrant sights, sounds, and—most importantly—flavours of the Philippines. Filipino Food Month is more than just a celebration of cuisine; it's a tribute to heritage, community, and the enduring stories woven into every dish.
Officially declared in 2018 through Presidential Proclamation No. 469, Filipino Food Month (Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino) was established to safeguard and promote the Philippines' rich culinary traditions. It honours not just the food, but also the farmers, fishermen, cooks, and communities that keep these traditions alive.
Across the Philippines, the month is filled with cooking demonstrations, regional food exhibitions, culinary forums, and competitions—each highlighting the diversity and depth of Filipino cuisine, from the highlands of Luzon to the islands of Visayas and Mindanao.
Filipino Food Month in Australia
Filipino communities around the world celebrate in solidarity—and here in Australia, the festivities have a distinctly local flavour. Through the efforts of organisations like the Filipino Food Movement Australia, Filipino Food Month has become a vibrant, flavour-packed celebration of culture, identity, and connection.
Expect events that combine the best of Filipino cuisine with live music, community spirit, and cultural pride—all served with that signature Filipino warmth. This month is a powerful reminder of how food connects people. Whether you're enjoying a home-cooked meal or attending a bustling community event, the warmth and generosity of Filipino hospitality are always on the menu.
It’s also an opportunity to introduce the wider Australian community to the richness of Filipino culture—its stories, values, and sense of togetherness.
